The Kimono- the greatest jacket/throwover this summer

First of all HELLO AND WELCOME BACK I MISSED THIS PUBLISHING SCREEN.

To be honest when I first heard of this trend I was a bit wary- a kimono? never heard of it, floral patterns? it's a bit grandmary (if that's a word) but just like most trends I was very, very wrong. The style stemming from places like Japan and China has been given a western twist and
I have fallen in love with the kimono.

Not heard of it? it's kind of like a cardigan/jacket made of the super-thin semi transparent material, some styles even come with black tassels along the hemline. Which by the way is also tapping into the music festival summer trend this summer ;). Kimono's come in various styles but by far the most popular is the floral pattern- I mean come on it is summer- with lots of diverse colour schemes to choose from it's hard to go wrong. I find that my favourite colour scheme is definitely the darker colours paired with red/purple floral foreground colours. It doesn't sound very summery but pair that with light coloured summery clothing and you'll look amazing.

Also with the ever changing summer weather we're having in Britain the kimono is the perfect in-between jacket. Wit a no sweat guarantee the kimono will keep you cool and still a little bit warmer than going all out and wearing a tank top. Finally, need the perfect bikini beach throw over? Kimono. Perfect style and material to throw over your bikini for a walk to the ice cream stand or if you want to warm up a bit after being in the cool sea. I hope I've convinced you that a kimono is the perfect investment buy this summer and I hope to see more people around wearing them.

Lobe earings: Brand new earring trend this summer

Forget the ear cuff chains and the front and back earrings this season a new style is emerging the lobe earrings

Ear cuff/chain
Last season the ear cuff trend was extremely popular, I doubt that you would have been able to go shopping without seeing at least a minimum of five people w
earing them. After that it evolved into the ear chain, a metal chain(s) that went from the ear cuff to the earring. That too was a very popular trend.
Front and back earrings
More recently the front and back earrings have begun to appear in high street shops. There are so many designs including: pencils, screws, dinos, crocodiles, cats, monkeys, frogs and I lot more. I find that this trend is super cute and I highly recommend getting some to make your dress your ears up and add playfulness to any outfit.

Design of lobe earing (How well is this models blusher applied!)
Anyway enough with the old trends this season the earring trend to be seen is the lobe earring trend. The idea behind the lobe earring is to cover up the whole of the ear lobe, these can be seen in the design of feathers, rain drops, spikes, daisy chains, lizards, snakes and many more creative styles in a variety of colours. Rumour has it that many celebrities are big fans of the lobe earring and articles about them have appeared in many popular magazines. The media hasn't seen anything like it before and are going crazy for the new, totally feminine, unique design.

Another reason in their increased popularity is the illusion that the wearer has had more than one ear piercing. The earring goes through the main piercing and some designs clip round the ears.
Which is great for people (like me) who think that the multiple ear piercings looks really cool but is too scared to get their ears pierced a second time. If you also feel this way then the lobe earring might be the perfect design for you and maybe even encourage you to get that second piercing done. ;)

The Marble print: brand new print design this summer

Looking for a new summer print? Forget floral and butterflies already the hot new print is marble.

Various marble prints
Generally for summer, summer related themed prints are popular things like floral, leaves, butterflies and even pineapples are very popular but now a brand new print has hit the high street; the marble print.

It’s one of the most unique prints out there which could be the reason behind it’s popularity. Marble print can also have a lot of variety in colour and in style because there is so much you can do with it. If you’re looking to be a bit more creative, stand out from the crowd and go for a more laid back style then this is definitely the print for you. Marble print can be found on almost any item of clothing including tops, dresses, trousers, headbands, bags and even shoes! Even though it’s not a very summery item of clothing a jumper also suits the marble trend perfectly and I’ve seen a cream coloured jumper with various blue marble designs; it just looked amazing and fitted perfectly. High street shops are also predicted to print the design on high-waisted shorts soon with the printed shorts trend proving to be super popular.

The V-shaped Crop Top

Crop tops are always big in the summer but this year it's time for a change; the V-shaped crop top is here

Last years style for crop tops (whether baggy tops or tight ones) was definitely Aztec print. Last year we just couldn't get enough of it but this season it's time for a change not just pattern but the whole shaping.

White V-shaped crop top
Crop tops, mostly worn in the summer, have always been very popular. For us tall girls it gives us the illusion of being smaller, crop tops can give us that tan we desperately need and of course they are much cooler to wear than a normal top in the warm summer months. After years of two main crop top styles (baggy versions or skin tight ones) now the V-shaped crop top is the most popular style.

The V-shaped crop tops are so popular because they give the illusion of a much smaller waist; something many of us would be appreciative of in the summer. The design is most popular in black, which is also the best contrasting colour to show off with a tan; something we can hopefully get if it's sunny enough but don't worry fake tan is always an option ;). Other colours are also available and even patterned ones are predicted to be in high street shops very soon. The V-shaped crop top can also work with any other type of summery clothing and even jeans if the sun doesn't come out. Even high-waisted shorts work with this crop top if you don't want to show off too much of you're tummy. They go well with shorts, skirts, jeans and even patterned trousers (if you're feeling brave).

Loom Bands- The latest craze

As far as crazes go this one is one of the biggest ones ever so remember to buy yours and be in with the trend!

This post might be slightly different to the regular posts I do but because loom bands are so popular they seem necessary to instruct you on how to wear them this summer.
Popular fishtail styles in various colours
If you don't know already then loom bands are bracelets made out of coloured elastic rings that you can make yourselves with sets or even ready made ones, sounds a bit childish? You'd be very surprised. With loom bands you can get creative by mixing colours and styles and showing off your amazing (yet stylish creations). Still sound a bit like a playground craze? You can even buy them in places like 'Claires' ready made so that if you're unsure on how to create them and what colours would work best together then skip the hassle and get yourself down to an accessory shop and buy some ready made. They're the absolute perfect trend if you're looking for a cute bracelet for summer and if you're someone that likes to get creative.
If you're interested than the most popular style is called to create them is a fishtail bracelet but if you're all about creativity than other designs (that may be slightly harder) include:  Inverted fishtail, double and triple fishtails, infinity design, starburst and many more! If you're unsure how to make them and aren't sure about some of the hefty price tags that buying a proper set include then invest your time in watching youtube tutorials ; there are many useful and easy guides out there.
These bracelets are so popular because they are very creative and also look amazing when they are done.
If you're wondering where to buy them from then 'Claire's accessories' is the best place but many other shops are starting to stock them so don't worry :).

Jelly Sandals - New footwear trend this summer!

Enough with the vans, converse, normal sandals and other trainers (the list is too long) this summers popular new trend is Jelly sandals.

Pastel/light coloured jellies work best with socks
When I first heard about this trend I  must admit I was a bit apprehensive after all jelly sandals do sound a bit strange and different but surprisingly I was amazed by just how good the looked when I saw them in high street shops and people wearing them around the high street. I think they are so popular because of how original the style of the shoe is and the unique material. They are also the perfect shoes for summer, no time for uncomfortably warm feet, Jelly sandals keep your feet very cool and looking very on trend. Even if it's too cold outside then Jelly sandals can always be paired with socks (patterned or plain) and still look super on trend. The only rules are; with socks (especially patterned) stick to pastel or light coloured jelly sandals. Also any colour jelly sandal works with bare feet but personally I tend to find that black looks the best especially paired with summery light coloured clothes.
Black jellies look best with bare feet

The leading brand for jelly sandals are 'JuJuJellies'. If you want the top quality, original jelly sandals then I definitely recommend ordering some shoes from that brand or finding them in a branded shoe
shop. If (like me) you find them a bit too pricy then lots of high street shops have also picked up on the trend. Popular shops such as Topshop and Newlook stock a lot of them and online shops like Boohoo and Asos also have them. I'm currently saving up too buy my own pair of Jelly Sandals for the summer and I hope that you find the perfect type for you and your style :)

Biker Gilets- the no.1 jacket this summer

Love your biker jacket? Don't want to lose it to the sunny weather? Well that's ok because a new jacket has hit the shops and will be a big hit this season: Biker Gilets

Now, I love a biker jacket (hence the previous posts that include pastel biker jackets and patterned biker jackets) but if it's warm enough this summer I might have to give mine up which I why I love this new trend so much.

Variety of biker gilet styles
Don't know what a gilet is? It's a French word for a jacket with no sleeves, the perfect type for summer when it's too warm for a full on jacket but to cold to go without one. The best thing about gilets is they can still be quite warm but the get the cool of having bare arms; goodbye sweaty arms! Biker Gilets can go with almost any item of clothing, even one with sleeves, but I think in the summer they work best with a floaty/baggy top, a playsuit (no jumpsuits it's too warm!) or a dress (if you're feeling especially summery
.
They have been spotted everywhere in the fashion world from catwalks to various celebrities and are proving to be very popular. They come in a variety of different colours and patterns, from black leather, brown leather, cream leather, basic denim, bleached denim, distressed denim, denim with studs, bright white and a variety of pastel colours. No patterns as of yet but keep your eyes peeled as I predict they will be appearing in shops very soon.

Floral: the pattern of the season

So, patterns are pretty big right now but the guaranteed print to be seen in is definitely floral

Just pick up a magazine and you will see floral prints in almost all of the pages. There are many patterns to choose from; marble to butterflies to tie-dye to geometric, the list goes on. Last years style was definitely tie-dye, it could be seen all over the high street shops and I think the reason it was so popular was because it was cheap and you it’s a DIY style; if quite hard. You could also wear it with almost anything because of the variety or colours. Enough with the tie-dye, this season is all about the floral.
Some floral prints
There is such a variety of colours and patterns hitting the high street shops, for summer stick to bright colours that pop and draw attention to you. Hopefully matching the summery weather! Also for those who want that summer ready body stick to small print flowers with bright colours. It gives the illusion of a thinner body and draws attention to the detailing of the print. Floral print can be seen on a variety of clothes. To keep it simple stick to a t-shirt with denim shorts or a dress if you’re feeling summery but if you’re feeling brave and it’s not too warm then floral has overtaken trousers and legging the only rule: wear them with a white or block coloured t-shirt (has to be matching to one of the colours in the floral print). Some cat walk shows have also planted the idea of double prints into high street shops mind. This is two different floral patterns in one outfit. Surprisingly it looks very good as long as you keep the colours toned down and have the colours of both prints very similar so that they almost blend together. If you’re not so keen on this trend but still want to show that you are aware of it then try a head scarf, shoes or maybe a bag. Whatever you choose good luck J

The current eyeliner flick is here to stay this season

The current trend of a small flick of eyeliner is predicted to be here to stay!

Eyeliner shape has always changed in fashion over the years but now a particular popular trend seems to be sticking.
Just drawing one line on the top lid thickening as it

Eyeliner flick step by step (also note the eyebrow shape
which I talked about in my last post)
goes out and a sharp flick at the end is perfectly in style and adds to make the eye look more feminine and cat-like. It only has a line along the top because if not them the design looks too overwhelming. If you draw eyeliner
(preferably liquid) underneath the eye it can look a bit
too dark and maybe even emo like. The short flick is right on trend this summer and can be seem on lots of girls everywhere and on the faces of many models in popular magazines. The flick can vary in shape and length bit the most popular style is a short, sharp, thick flick.

I think this is so popular because it almost creates an illusion for a thick end eyelash instead of eyeliner and isn't as much as a statement as the cat-eyes eyeliner trend was. It is very subtle but makes a noticeable difference to the shape of the eye and looks perfect with any colour eye and face shape :)

The eyebrow shape is here to stay

The fashionable eyebrow shape always seems to be changing but this seasons style seems to be here to stay

Firstly I'm very sorry for not posting for a while as I have been busy but I will still post daily blogs normally again.

Eyebrow angles as directed from a makeup set
The fashion for the shape of eyebrows is said to change shape very often, which can be tricky for girls who like to get their eyebrows plucked. It's not so much so (but still annoying) for the girls that just like to fill theirs in.
Good news though is that this seasons eyebrow shape is here to stay. The shape starts with a sharp rectangular edge and a soft rise upwards before a small curve at the end. It's staying popular and can be seem on almost all teen girls. I'm not sure why this particular shape is so popular and staying around and why people like it so much they're willing to keep it. It is a really flattering shape for the face and it goes well with a flick of eyeliner.
If you have eyebrows naturally shaped like this then LUCKY YOU but if not then there's always plucking and many eyebrow pencils so good luck :).

Printed biker jackets- another hit this summer

With printed biker jackets being spotted on celebs and appearing in high street shops they are predicted to be a hit this summer

Yeah, yeah, I know I just posted about pastel coloured biker jackets (http://elizaxfashion.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/pastel-biker-jackets-predicted-to-be.html) but I new trend has been spotted to go along side the pastel bikers; printed biker jackets. Lots of funky designs are already being sold in high street shops so invest in one soon!

Floral and grungy printed bikers

So why are biker jackets so popular this season? I'm not sure the full answer to this question but it must be something to do with the fact we live in England (not much chance of sun) and also the shape of the biker jacket. I mean, I'm pretty sure we're not all just about to hop onto a motorbike. Am I right?
The biker jacket has a unique shape that's clipped in at the waist and has a fashionable collar. They are also very comfortable and can be worn with almost any outfit and with sunny weather not guaranteed it's the perfect backup jacket. If you don't already own one I strongly suggest going out to buy one as they look beautiful on any shape girl and can be worked into almost any outfit, they're also right on trend ;).

Short Dungarees- here again this summer

Dungarees were pretty big on the high street last year but this year they're predicted to be even bigger!

I absolutely love the dungaree trend. When it's so warm out that you had to wear denim shorts you don't have to anymore because theirs the dungaree shorts. They'll keep you cool and make you look super cute. My favourite short dungarees variation is definitely the acid wash coloured ones I think they look really cool, summery and work really well with a bright coloured t-shirt on underneath!

In other dungaree news, the new dungarees dress is also
out on the high street and predicted to be very popular this summer. It is the perfect twist on an already perfect item of  clothing that won't get you feeling too hot and will make you look really cute. Who needs a new dress for summer  when you have this?
I find that dungaree shorts or dresses look best paired with sandals which is a good way too show off your feet (which should be painted in bright summery colours) and also a good way to sneak heels into a day outfit. I also find dungarees also suit a with tee or at least a plain coloured one to draw the attention more to the dungarees. Rumours also suggest that pop coloured dungaree dresses are meant to be hitting high street shops very soon ;).

Yellow- the colour this season

Yellow is said to be the colour to wear this season- matching the sunny weather (hopefully)

Right, forget the old trend of mint green (much as I loved it). This season yellow is the colour to be seen in. Wear the colour bright/pastel yellow as a mac coat, a biker jacket (check my last post), t-shirts, shoes, socks, long or short skirt, skinny jeans and shorts. Yes that is almost every item of clothing. What can I say? Yellow works well with everything.

Bright yellow jeans
If you want to have a toned down look then wear pastel yellow
with white or pale colours, a blouse works really well or you could even go for monochrome. Polka dots are definitely in, especially in black and white. Get two trends in one by wearing a polka dot blouse or t-shirt with yellow jeans or a yellow skirt, preferably a scuba skirt.
For a more upbeat look with the colour yellow, go for a bright shade a pair it with other bright, bold, block colours, This will make you look bright, cheerful, summery and most of all right on trend. I find the best colours to pair with yellow can go from everything from coral pink, turquoise, red, blue and bright purple. For an added hippie effect try a tee with tie-dye colours and use a blend of two bright colours.

Thanks for reading and don't be afraid to wear things bright a bold this spring :)

Pastel biker jackets- predicted to be a hit this spring

Forget your old black biker, this season new pastel coloured versions of you favourite jacket are predicted to be a hit!

If you are anything like me then you love you biker jacket (I won't be seen without it most days!) but when the weather eventually gets warmer the black colour is just too much to cope with on sunny days. Looking for a new spring jacket? Look no further, investing in a pastel biker jacket makes you look 100% more summery and is perfectly on trend.

Pastel pink and yellow biker jackets
Lots of colours are predicted to hit the high street this season, including mint, yellow (both big colours this season), baby pink, baby blue and cream.
Another good thing is that you can through a biker jacket on over almost anything and with the new pastel colours, you won't look as depressing in the sunny months. Biker jackets can go on over the top of t-shirts, jumpers, crop tops and even work perfectly with a dress.

TOP TIPS: If you're going for a t-shirt and jeans then keep the t-shirt fairly plain and wear bright block coloured jeans it will be sure to make you stand out. If you're going for a dress, why not go for a lace theme with soft colours? Lace and pastel go perfectly together. For a night out try a dark/black dress and a brightly coloured belt to add a pop off colour.

Backpacks - replacing handbags in teen fashion

A backpack is the new handbag when it comes to school and teen fashion

Maybe a couple of years ago handbags were the best type of bag for teen girls but now with top brands all coming out with their own styles backpacks are the new top thing.

Backpacks seemed a bit boyish for you? Not anymore over half of teenage girls you see about in public will probably have a backpack and pretty soon you'll notice some top brands.

So why have they become so popular? I think that girls always preferred backpacks due to the extra storage and practicality that a handbag just doesn't offer but brands are always launching backpacks for men. Nowadays backpacks for girls are everywhere, canvas backpacks are still around but they're more or less old news now.

Some of the 'Mipac' styles
More defined stereo-typical shaped backpacks are now the top fashion including many top brands from 'Mipac' the original backpack brand is known for unisex bags, 'Ratchet' another good brand; know for it's tie-dye style. Other top brands include: 'Jansport', 'Vans 'off the wall'' and 'Hype'. Many other brands and less expensive versions are available.

Upturned jeggings and skinny jeans - the look for spring

Upturned jeggings/skinny jeans have been a hit this spring, if you want to keep your legs covered up this spring then this is the look to go for

Upturned jeans for a more summery feel.

Too self conscious to go for denim shorts or skirts this spring? If you're going for jeggings or skinny jeans then wear them upturned; it's sure too make your outfit look more summery and it will feel a lot cooler too.
The great thing about this trend is you can wear upturned jeans if its cold and if it's warmer. Both will look amazing and totally in
trend.

On a colder day it's best to wear with trainers, such as vans or converse (many other brands look great too), with frilly lace shoe liners. This will bring attention to you ankles and make your feet look amazing and add a spring feel.

Upturned jeans with sandals for those warmer days.

On a warmer day you could wear vans or trainers with no socks, sandals or maybe even heels. This trend goes with almost any foot wear so no need to stress about getting some new shoes for spring!

If this trend just isn't for you then; what the heck it's summer! Be daring and wear denim shorts or a skirt!

The half ponytail is back!

The half ponytail is officially back in fashion but this time with a slight twist

The new style to wear your hair this spring is up in a half ponytail. Although this time it has been given a make-over; instead if pulling the ponytail to the back of your head it's better to wear it on top of your head. This can work perfectly with either wavy or straight hair.

Khloe Kardashian pictured
 with the half ponytail

This look is said to have been inspired by many celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. The thinking behind this style is to make your hair look fuller and thicker and also draws more attention to your face. It is becoming increasingly popular because it is very simple and quick to do in the morning. Also because it looks amazing on every face shape and hair type.

Ariana Grande (actress & singer)

Ariana Grande (actress and singer) is also rumoured to have started the trend. She is a very popular singer; said to be growing in popularity at an incredible rate. Her trademark hairstyle (of 2013/2014) is a half ponytail, a clipped back side fringe and soft waves. Even through her half ponytail is quite a bit lower down on her head then the common trend her style could have been the kick start for the high half ponytail. Being a fairly new, extremely popular singer she has featured in many magazines. This could be the reason why so many teenage girls have opted for this style.
